Okay, taking a quick moment to tell this story because it’s so darn cute and because I’m so proud of the intelligence Baby is showing this early on in her life:
Last night, I was sitting on the floor of her room after dressing her into her pajamas. She knows that storytime is next so I look at her and say, “Let’s read, Put Me In The Zoo.”
So, she gets up and goes into a near run into the next room where all of her toys and things are. I can hear her stumbling over her toys that squeak and jingle. Then I hear the sound of books being pushed aside.
She returns with her arm extended holding this book:
I praise her and then I think, maybe this is a one time fluke. So I tell her, “Let’s read, Are You My Mother?“
And off she goes into a near run back into the next room. Again, I hear the squeaking and jingling of toys and books being pushed around. I can’t help myself but to giggle and just sit in wonder as I know she is thinking in the other room.
She comes back with arm extended holding this:
Okay, now I’m really going to put her to the test and ask for a book that is non-Dr. Seuss. So I ask her, “Baby, how about ‘Sheila Rae’s Peppermint Stick?’”
She goes off again into the other room. No jingling or squeaking. I figure she probably has already cleared a path by now.
She returns with a smile on her face and book in hand.
Yup, it’s the correct one!
Not bad for someone who isn’t even 14 months old yet! Gawd, I’m so proud of her!! She’s so smart!!
